Fraudulent Check Scam

We have recently learned that a fraudulent check scam is attempting to entice unsuspecting consumers with fraudulent checks bearing the Weyerhaeuser name. These checks are being distributed with a message about "Weyerhaeuser Sweepstakes" and other similar headings. The scam targets individuals via a letter making one of a variety of claims, including the recipient being awarded a prize and encouraging the recipient to wire money in order to obtain the benefit of the offer described in the letter. Enclosed with the letter is a fraudulent, invalid Weyerhaeuser check.

Please note that these checks are part of a fraud being carried out by third parties against individual persons and Weyerhaeuser. We have notified and are cooperating with appropriate U.S. law enforcement authorities to investigate and hopefully prosecute those responsible for this scam.

The check enclosed with the letter is NOT valid, and you should NOT attempt to cash this check. Weyerhaeuser is NOT liable for any of these checks. Persons who attempt to cash these checks may incur substantial personal expense and/or losses.
